Bite the Bullet

Wow… Two years ago I never imagined writing an article for our blog from an airport terminal. I’m waiting for a flight to take me away for a one-week business trip – another un-imagined moment. Yes, our business has grown fantastically, however for this trip, we had to bite the bullet.

What do I mean? Keep reading…

At least a year ago I was introduced to Infusionsoft. While the program sounded great, there was, in my mind, no way I could consider spending the money to use the program ourselves. Unfortunately, by not learning the program for our own use, no client was willing/able to hire us to do Infusionsoft work for them either.

Looking back, THAT was a big mistake. I wish I had scraped together the cash to make it happen then. Like many other business owners though, I let the financial cost outweigh the gain/benefits. Let a year go by and many of us will realize our mistakes. For some it’s too late and the opportunity has passed by forever. For me/us, an even better opportunity came our way – and this time I couldn’t say no… We had to bite the bullet.

And as a business owner, if you want to see your company grow you need to be prepared to bite the bullet as well.

You may be wondering how exactly I feel I bit the bullet, and here’s my response. Each of my sponsors has been given a number of hours, 5 of which can be used each week. Considering the sponsors have already paid for this time through their sponsorship, these hours are time I will not be getting “paid” for going forward. Altogether they total a considerable number of hours that I would normally be invoicing clients for, however on the flip-side I have to remember what these hours could mean for our business:

  • Increased Client Load
  • Earning Potential
  • Referrals
  • Company Expansion

I spent dozens of hours learning Infusionsoft. I’m giving up a week of billable time to attend Certified Partner training. And I’m not going to be invoicing my sponsors. However what I get in priceless in comparison.

My advice to business owners? Bite the bullet. If you did your homework in advance you won’t regret it.
