Eat That Frog

Eat That Frog by Brian TracyBefore I even begin writing this, I must mention that the article would never have happened if it weren’t for a book my old business coach had me read: Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy. At the time I was struggling with MAJOR procrastination issues, and that’s what this book is all about. If you haven’t read it, I encourage you to procrastinate just a little bit longer and give this book a read.

Eat That Frog: It sounds gross, yea? Well, how unappealing are those tasks that you avoid on a daily basis. Whether they are personal tasks like balancing your checkbook or cleaning the toilet, or business tasks like bookkeeping and website updates, these are all important tasks that shouldn’t be avoided. Did you know that eating the frog, and crossing an item off your to-do list actually builds adrenaline and becomes addictive.

Plate of Peas by Haprog_As a child, and even as an adult, I can not stand eating peas. Unfortunately they are my husband’s favorite vegetable so I feel obligated to serve them (every once in a great while). The easiest ways to put them ingest them, for me, are to eat them with other items or to eat them first so I don’t have the taste lingering in my mouth. The same goes for ingesting the undesirable tasks in my personal and business life. By washing the dishes immediately after dinner I don’t have to look at them for any longer than necessary and I don’t have to spend extra hours washing hardened food off pots and pans.

Eat That Frog… If you are absolutely NOT going to touch those undesirable tasks, it’s time for you to step up to the plate (pun intended) and hire someone to handle the tasks for you. Virtual assistants and other professionals are skilled contractors who can help you get those tasks under control. Wouldn’t you love to be able to file your taxes BEFORE April 15 because all the paperwork was handled for you? Wouldn’t you love to be paid more than once a month because somebody is sending out weekly invoices on your behalf? Wouldn’t you love for your website and blog to be consistently up-to-date with no log?

Yea, you need to eat that frog.

We’ve acquired quite a taste for them, and, if I might say, we’re especially fast at digesting them.
