I Can Do It Faster

local time 2 by saavem“I can do it faster than I can teach it to someone.” I know I’ve said this before. I’ve even said it to Dave when he’s offered to help me with my work. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve been truly thinking that it would be faster for me, or if I just didn’t want to relinquish my role. In either case, “I can do it faster…” often turns into a misuse of my time.

If you are a business owner who often falls back on this quote, think about what all your “I can do it faster” time blocks have turned into…  Essentially, these time blocks have turned into lost time.

Here are some scenarios for you to consider:

Calculator by cobrasoftBookkeeping: Bookkeeping and accounting can be an area of GREAT concern for any business owner. It’s an area of concern even to me! One mistake on an invoice can result in money lost. However – Focusing YOUR energy on your bookkeeping means you are not focusing on the needs or earning potential of your client work. Teach someone how to use your bookkeeping/invoicing software (we prefer Freshbooks), and you will be able to make money while you are making money.

Blog by jaylopezBlogging: Just because you are the expert doesn’t mean you need to be writing all your articles. Running a business isn’t like college where you would be kicked out of class for submitting somebody else’s writing as your own. (For the record, I, Kimberly Sutton, DO write our blog articles) Outsource your articles to a skilled writer and use the hours you would have spent writing on more important tasks. As the client, you have the right to give the writer direction AND approval before any articles are published.

Chances are you aren’t an expert in WordPress, CSS, and HTML. Rather than losing all your hair because you’re pulling it out when you’re formatting doesn’t work out as planned, spend an hour or two talking to a true expert and let the project go. Not only will you be able to spend your time where you need to, your website will probably look HOT in the end!
